The man, the myth, the legend… Jim Gray began his radio career at KGHS-KSDM in International Falls, Minnesota at the age of 14. Since then he has held almost every position there is to be found in radio and has worked in several markets in the Midwest. He is currently the Director of Operations at KVSC Radio at SCSU, is an Adjunct Professor of Mass Communications at SCSU, is the Adviser for SCSU radio broadcast students, and serves as the Faculty Advisor for RadioX.
Jesse (Scooter) Wheeler began his radio career on a cheap double cassette deck in rural west central Minnesota while emulating many radio legends in the area. From there his love for radio and music rose as he got older and at the tender age of 18, strolled into KQIC-FM in Willmar, MN to start cutting his teeth on the overnight weekend shift. “I learned quite a bit working there and found it to be quite rewarding despite the fatigue!”
When he finished his AA degree in Mass Communications in 2002, he moved to Saint Cloud, MN to attend Saint Cloud State University for a degree in Radio Broadcasting. Upon starting his classes, he discovered the campus radio station, KVSC-FM and was hooked. Starting out there as a buck private workstudy, he worked his way up to Assistant Music Director until 2005 where he still stayed involved volunteering on the air. After living in the Twin Cities for 8 years, he returned to Saint Cloud State to finish his degree full time.
Scooter is currently Training Director at KVSC since 2012, as well as Music Director of RadioX. Having grown up in the thick of the 90’s, the RadioX format is very familiar to him and has been a joy to help nurture and grow. Scooter is literally living the dream now, supervising the music you hear on RadioX!
Oh! Hey… I didn’t see you there. Um, no I wasn’t listening to Cinderella playing live with Van Halen… Why would you say such a thing?!? -shifty eyes-
Trevor began his radio career at SCSU immediately after graduating from high school, because who waits for their dreams? No, you chase those things down. Since his arrival to campus he has held Training, Production and Programming positions at KVSC 88.1FM.
He has also produced and voiced for Oshkosh Wisconsin’s EAA Radio 96.5FM/1210AM whose online listenership alone is around 250,000 during Airventure. Most recently taking on the bulk of production for 97.5 Radio X as well as rockin’ the Program Director role. Will work for warm food, or dental benefits…
